Vickie shared the poignant backstory behind “My Light,” explaining how the song was birthed during a challenging period in her life. “My mom was diagnosed with a terminal disease, and we spent weeks in the hospital. One night, overwhelmed by fear and exhaustion, I questioned how we would get through this. In that dark moment, Psalm 27 rose in my spirit: ‘The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?’”
The scripture inspired Vickie to turn her faith into song. “I began to recite and sing the Psalm, and it reignited my faith and confidence in God. I declared boldly that He would bring us through and that my mom would survive. I vowed to praise His name for all my days,” she adds.
Miraculously, Vickie’s mom recovered and is alive and well today. Reflecting on the experience, Vickie concludes, “God brought us out and proved His sovereignty. This song is a testament to His power and control over every situation. I hope that ‘My Light’ blesses and uplifts you, especially in your own dark hours and storms.”
